Original WW2 German Army M42 Gebirgsjäger Reversible Mountain Smock.

A rare original German Army M42 Mountain troops Gebirgsjäger Anorak smock which is in good condition.

This pattern of smock was designed specifically for the Wehrmacht mountain troops and it is a very well made, high quality garment. It is made from a tight weave lightweight cotton canvas which is much thicker and hard wearing than a standard cotton. It is designed to be reversible with one side being green and the other white. It is cleverly designed so that the lower rear pockets can be inverted when it is turned the other way around and the wrist straps which fasten with metal buckles can also be turned around. The smock features a hood which has a double layer fastening which is secured with buttons. There are also eyelets through which a string can be fitted. Both the green and white sides feature a triple pocket detail to the chest which is one of the most notable attributes of this pattern of smock. There is a drawstring at the waist. Shows overall service wear particularly to the white side. Overall good condion.
