British 1859 Pattern Cutlass - Type 1
This early type 1 example identified by is black painted carved wooden grips. Sadly the locking stud and spring plate are missing. German makers mark and British inspection and acceptance stamping.
Some very light an d easily cleaned surface rust to the bowl guard exterior. This light and easily removed .
Rare with scabbard.
Comes with its rare black leather scabbard fitted with white metal chape and langet. The scabbard is in good condition and fits well to the cutlass. The scabbard throat marked “V 414..93 “ number possibly indicating service the Victorian Colonial Navy.
