British WW2 Mk III “Turtle” Helmet with unit insignia.

The MkIII helmet was first introduced in 1943 and saw combat on D-Day with British and Canadian troops of the 21st Army Group. Roughly 500,000 units were produced by Briggs Motor Bodies and Rubery Owen Co in its short production.

The Shell is maker marked , although hard to read and it is dated 1944 clearly.
The Mk 2 liner on this example is not dated. The original hand painted Formation Patch on the side is possibly Royal Army Ordnance Corps.

In the post war world a very common helmet. Original WW2 examples are now hard to find.
