British 1751 Pattern Infantry Hanger

A good personalized example as used by infantrymen during the French and Indian Wars, The American Revolution and the Seven Years War.

Heavy all brass hilt and guard, slightly curved blade maker marked marked with a running fox on one side. This is the mark of the Samuel Harvey, a Birmingham, England sword maker working from 1748 to around 1800. Sometimes they are marked with “S.H.” and the fox, and as we can see on this blade,
The guard personalized with an engraved name “M. Warwik” and “5/3”. This might indicate 5th Battalion 3rd Regiment of Foot , The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment).

Certainly worthy of further research.
