German WW1 Army Officers M1910 Field Grey Tunic
A well worn and partly restored example of the officers M1910 pattern service dress tunic in field grey wool. The two top breast pockets have been removed and clearly evidence of having such previously. I have seen this before on a number of Imperial German tunics both officers and other ranks, the reason why is unknown to me but seems to correlate with immediate post war or Freikorps period use. Fitted with plain brass buttons. Green wool stand and fall collar now with M1916 Special Duty Officers collar litzen. These are a very close match and display quite well but are not a matching pair.Swedish cuffs with subdued litzen and M1916 Prussian buttons. The M1915/16 officers subdued shoulder straps for a Major in grey with white and black Prussian fleck. Both shoulder board have been re-sewn directly to the tunic. The pleated rear skirt also with buttons and duel scarlet and crimson pink piping ( possibly General Staff ?)
Comes fitted with a two place ribbon bar for the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd class and Oldenburg Frederick August Cross 2nd Class. A screw back Oldenburg Frederick August Cross 1st Class. This is probably an extremely good copy medal. The hole not overlocked and put straight through the tunic. An original and 1918 Black Wound Badge now worn back to the base metal. Full cotton / silk lining to the body and tailors striped cotton lining to the sleeves.
Some areas of mothing and wear.
Overall the tuinc has a lot of issues, particularly with the breast pockets and the insignia being re-applied but overall it still presents well and is priced accordingly for the condition it’s in.
