WW1 German Flying Corps Insignia and Photo Group
Interesting lot of mixed postcards, pictures and an original officers shoulder strap, detachable type for a Lieutenant of a German Flying Corps with metal winged device. A nice 1914 Iron cross second class mounted on original ribbon with safety pin.
Patriotic postcard showing a German pilot another postcard showing Focker tri-deckers, a small original photograph showing German officers inspecting a crushed British airplane. A great original pre-war photo postcard of a pilot in civilian clothing standing in front of his aircraft, and autographed in the bottom left-hand corner. This unfortunate to be removed from a frame or an album with some double-sided tape reminding to the reverse. Together with with a slightly larger original photo of the same Pilot now in wartime uniform with the ribbon for the Iron Cross second class and clearly showing a Prussian pilots badge. Again, the reverse unfortunately with double sided tape. With some deciphering of the signature of the bottom of the photo it may be possible to identify this officer as there are lists of prewar pilots obtaining a pilots license in the prewar years. Overall a great display lot.
