Germany c.1919-1920 Freikorps Tunic
A converted original late WW1 “Jager” style pattern tunic in a course blanket wool type material. Six button front with concealed plane polished horn buttons. Two small pleated breast pockets, each with a very thin scalloped flaps secured by matching polished horn buttons and concealed hip pockets. The collar an immediate post World War I conversion to a black wool felt and black rayon on the inside of the neck with a double hook and eye front closure. Each collar fitted with a set of Freikorps gilt metal oak leaves. The left breast pocket fitted with the ribbon of the iron cross second class. A false belt fitted to the rear only and made in the same matching material.
The interior of a standard ordinance type gray cotton full lining. To one side of the lining is a faint makers, ink stamp along with Depo and size markings. The date is extremely hard to read but possibly 1917 or 1918.
Overall a very appealing tunic synonymous with the Freikorps when soldiers were outfitted with surplus and reworked WW1 uniforms and equipment.
