FRENCH NAPOLEONIC MODEL AN XI LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER’S SWORD
The French Model AN XI (1803 pattern)light cavalry saber was the first standard saber designated for all
light cavalry units after the revolution and was introduced in the 9th year after the revolution. This is the officer’s model, which would have been privately purchased and, as such, there were many variations. Overall length in scabbard is 985mm. The curved blade 805mm in length. The blade with floral design and small trophy of arms to the lower section on both sides. There is an old repair to the blade approximately 200mm from the tip from a bend or join? Brass three bar hilt with leather wire bound grip. Comes with its all steel scabbard and fits well to the blade.
