Germany Weimar Period M1898/05 Butcher Bayonet
A very nice clean example of the M98/95 pattern, the mainstay bayonet issued to the German Army during the Great War. This unusual example is thought to be a Weimar Refurbishment and issued example. This bayonet was originally made during the Great War still retains its imperial markings to the pommel, and the scabbard. All of the original markings on the ricasso including the maker, and the date on the backstrap have been removed factory refurbished with re-blueing to the blade cross guard and pommel. The blade is in very good condition. The ricasso is marked only with a large “3”, the matching all steel scabbard also marked with the same “3”. Has its original wooden grips in very good condition and working locking stud. It has been suggested that these refurbished bayonets were issued to Weimar police and military forces.
Absolutely excellent condition. Hard to upgrade from this one.
