British WW1 Hooked Quillon Bayonet

A usual example with no markings. Nice bright clean steel blade the ricasso , cross guard and pommel blued. To the left hand side of the ricasso the maker “Sanderson” is just visible, all of the other original date and proof marks removed and re-blued. To the right hand side of the ricasso all date and proof marks removed and re-blued. The quillon is original factory fitted. Has original wooden grips, working locking stud. The pommel only marked with number “4.

Comes with a later wartime made scabbard by Remington Engineering.

The question is ….is this a trials or a sample bayonet?

Why is all the markings being removed?

With the exception of the maker and a simple “4” on the pommel might lead to it being a sample or a trials bayonet but I cannot prove this. There certainty more research needed. An interesting Pattern 1907 nevertheless.
