Rare Japanese WW2 Army Model 1944 Army NCO’s Wooden Handle Sword

One of the rarer of the WW2 Japense sword varieties this 1944 pattern example known as the “Last Ditch variation 1” is in extremely good condition.
Two piece wooden checkered grips in excellent original condition. Fitted with a machine made blade and this one is in very nice bright clean condition with serial number and arsenal stamp. The serial number is not matching numbered to the scabbard and it also has an inspection mark on the blade by the number. Plain steel non voided 1944 pattern tsuba and pommel. The pommel fitted with a post war additional tassel ring. I have left this on for the use of a tassel but it is very easily removed. The original pattern did not had a tassel ring fitted and thus was simply slipped through the pommel hole.

Comes with its all steel scabbard, with as stated before , a non matching serial numbers to the blade. The scabbard with an oxidised finish and looks to have ben lightly lacquered some time ago. This not detracting at all.

Overall a very , very, nice looking and rare sword.
