British Suez Crisis Paratrooper Helmet. 1956 Dated
The steel shell retains is original green painted finish and is more than likely a WW2 produced example with folded rim. The brown leather sweatband dated 1956. Web chin strap assembly. Complete with a WW2 period helmet camouflage net.
Overall in excellent condition and perfect substitute for a WW2 display, apart from the date exactly the same as a mid to late wartime issue example.
In 1956, British paratroopers spearheaded the Anglo-French airborne assault during the Suez Crisis (Operation Musketeer). Deployed from Cyprus, they conducted the last major battalion-sized parachute drop in British military history to capture Egypt's El Gamil airfield.
