Australia WW2 General Service "Baldrick" Cap

Khaki wool serge.

Based on the pre war British cap of the same pattern. Dated 1944. Whilst this is an official government made and issue item it is doubtful that these were ever issued and certainly not worn by the AIF. I have yet to see an original photo of a digger wearing one of these. There is speculation that these were issued to either AWAS, Munition Workers etc but again I'm yet to find/see any evidence of this but is though likely as why would such a government supply remain unused during the wartime economy.
