German WW2 Army General's Field Grey Service Tunic.
Please Note: This is a very well done re-worked representative example compiled from all original parts.
It's actually hard to tell! But.... I have tried to research the name on in the inside tag as being a WW2 General and it doesn't match anything so far. I've looked very closely at the insignia and the sewing and I can only state that I believe that this was an original tunic that has had all of its original insignia replaced with original wartime General Officers insignia....to make up a General display so to say.
All original wartime insignia well well applied to an original early pre war "old style" field grey officers tunic with eight button front and concealed hip pockets. Two button belt ramps on the reverse. On the inside pocket the original name tag named to a medical Doctor and dated 1936. There is some wear to the edging around the top of the collar to the front.
Original wartime gilt bullion embroidered collar insignia on scarlet wool backing. Pre 1942 bullion shoulder sank boards for Major-General. Gilt bullion General Officers breast eagle on dark green wool backing. General Officers gilt buttons to the front and two far more worn ones to the reverse.Thre is provision for two or three breast awards. These are replaced award loops. There is also the original loops for a long ribbon bar.
For a collector looking for a good representative example without the high price tag then this is a perfect example.
Please Note: Belt and awards are not included and are only for photographic display of this item. Tunic only.
