An excellent condition quilted pith helmet, often historically referred to as a Cawnpore tent-style or quilted "Bombay Bowler" sun helmet. Private purchase type and used by all services. Retaining a good soldier undamaged shape, khaki cotton drill with a distinctive stitched fabric exterior layered over a lightweight sola pith or cork core. excellent liner and leather sweatband. The liner marked " Made in India" for " Anthony Hordern and sons, Sydney".
