WW1 Period Royal Navy Midshipman’s Dirk and Waistbelt
British or Australian Royal Navy Midshipman’s Dirk and Waistbelt.
A Fair example of aFirst World War era Naval Midshipman’s dirk. The dirk features a gilded brass lion head and ornate back strap, with portepee ring and acorn quillion. The pebbled ray skin grip is typically in very good condition. The front langet is adorned with the naval anchor and wreath. The push button lock is present and is in working condition.The 45cm long blade features on both sides the acid etched design of laurel spray and ships anchor with the Royal Cypher of King George V. Maker marked by Wilkinson Pall mall London name to the riches. Overall condition is VGC with only small areas of stain to the blade. The scabbard is also in fine condition with an all black leather frame with the ornate brass upper chape with twin floating suspension rings and large style drag.There is a cream mark to the centre. The scabbard and dirk fit together with no issues. Overall a very fine piece that has been very well looked after. Overall length: 62 cm. Comes with a full dress black leather belt with brass kings crown Royal Navy officers buckle complete with both hanger straps attached to the dirk. The belt with some age and wear but no damage.
