British 1845 Pattern Infantry Officers Gothic Hilt Sword.

A good Victorian period example with brass three bar gothic folding hilt with "VR" cypher. Trase of the original gilding remaining. The folding hilt complete with its original black leather insert. This only loosely attached. The brass wire bound ray skin grip in particularly good condition.
The slightly curved single fullered "Wilkinson" style blade. This acid etched with Victorian crown and VR cypher. Some ares of tone and light pitting consummate with age. There is no makers mark but has the proving star of Wilkinson. To the other side of the Picasso again the distributors mark of Firmin & Sons London".

Comes with its matching black leather scabbard and gilt brass fittings. Note: the scabbard has been repaired at some later stage with a black leather wrap repair band about 3/4 down the length of the scabbard. The top brass hanger mount with a lovely distributors cartouche " Firmin & Sons London". Some original gilding also remains on the mount.

Overall a good example.
