Rare WW1 1918 British Army Machete by Samuel Kitchin of Sheffield
This is a rare find of a Great War era machete. The blade has an engraving of the maker’s mark, Samuel Kitchin of Sheffield, and is inscribed with the year 1918 beneath the logo. Additionally, the opposite side of the grip displays a distinctive broad arrow mark. Two piece fiber grip with 5 rivets. 37cm blade, 55cm overall.
Not many WW1 machetes still survive. This shows service related wear and tear with some rusting and pitting to the blade and general usage wear and tear to the grip. Comes with its brown leather scabbard. This nice and supple and maker marked Leatheries Ltd and dated 1918.
