Egyptian Hakim Bayonet
A scarce 1950’s Egyptian Hakim bayonet to fit the 8mm Hakim service rifle. Hilt with bolt retained wooden grip scales has release catch to the lower rear of the pommel. Cross guard with barrel loop to the top. In its issue blued steel scabbard with frog stud to the front. Based on the Swedish M1896 bayonet the Hakim is designed to fit the 8mm Hakim self loading rifle which was itself based on the Swedish AG42b Ljungman self loading rifle and manufactured in Egypt on tooling supplied by the Swedes. It differed from the M1896 mainly in having a conational tang and grip scales, adopted to provide clearance for the rifles flask hider. While the M96 will not fit on the Hakim rifle due to fouling the flash hider, the Hakim bayonet will fit the Swedish ’96 Mauser rifle if the clearing rod is removed. In good condition with good blade, clean grip scales and clear Egyptian issue markings, a rare and interesting cold war bayonet.
Working locking stud. Comes with its all steel scabbard and brown leather frog.
