The blade with overall age tone and only very light pitting. The blade maker marked "Lithgow" and dated 191 as well as usual ordnance inspection stamps. The cross guard marked to the 4th Military District ( South Australia).

It is possibly made in 9ct gold or gold plated and enamel with gilt brass hinge suspension and top bar. The reverse is unmarked but polishes up looking like 9ct gold.
