A highly attractive jeweler made contract medal. Full size in silver, silver-gilt and enamels. The pale sky blue ribbon set with a top bar “1837-1887” and a mid mounted bar 13th June 1887. South Africa Medal clasp 1879- 58th Reiment of Foot

Clasp 1879. Privately engraved in upright large capitals “29/823 PTE J HUTTON 58th FOOT”. Probably a contemporary rename. Small knock to the clasp.

The 58th Foot was sent to South Africa in 1879 for service in the Anglo-Zulu War and saw action at the Battle of Ulundi in July 1879.  read more
