The wooden handle is glued to the head . The head well pitted and lacquered to stabilize the rust. There is a 10mm wide sliver cut down the length of the side. This was a requirement by Australian customs in the early 2000’s on import entry. Complete with pull ignition fuse. WW1 HMAS Sydney Souvenir Nut Bowl and Cracker Gavel.
Made from the wood from HMAS Sydney. Turned wooden bowl approx 200mm with a small metal plaque “ HMAS Sydney Destroyed Emden 1914”.
Together with a matching cracker gavel also in wood.
HMAS Sydney was a Chatham-class light cruiser of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Laid down in 1911 and launched in 1912, the cruiser was commissioned into the RAN in 1913.
