Clasp “1879”. Engraved in large Roman capitals “1101 PTE D McDOUGALL 91st FOOT”.

The Regiment was dispatched to South Africa in February 1879 for service in the Anglo-Zulu war and fought at the Battle of Gingindlovu in April 1879 before lifting the Siege of Eshowe later that month.
