British Brown Bess Land Pattern Socket Bayomet c.1770
Made by “Woolley” in about 1770 owing to having an elbow, shoulder and collar with a post 1750 configuration. James Woolley *1, noted as BO supplier in 1793, known to have worked at Edmund Street, Birmingham in 1797. Became 'WOOLLEY & DEAKIN' on the 30th April 1803, therefore dating this bayonet.

Choice example made in 1940 by Freidrich Herder. (ffc) Has all of its original blued finish and good black Bakelite grips. Working locking stud, waffenamt stamps. Serial number “5810”. A well aged example having overall heavy pitting to the blade and cross guard. Inspection / acceptance stampings. The maker name is now illegible. The year of manufacture visible (1912).
